Midi Carriage clock Quarter strike

Beautifully midi format Carriage Clock with quarter strike, called Petit Sonnerie on two gongs. Every fifteen minutes, a ting-tang sound building up to 3 x ting-tang at the quarter for and on the hour only the number of hours on a single gong. Repetition (striking on request - by the button on top) Then the  clock strikes a Grand Sonnerie, namely the number of quarters followed by the number of hours. The silvered escapement has a compensation balance.

This clock comes with the original casing, which has the letters S B on top, these were from the owner. These letters are also in a beautifully executed monogram on top of the clock, see pictures.

The beautiful clockcase is still in his original gold! styling Gorge (this type of cases used only for the best timepieces). The dial, which is signed by "Paul Garnier". is encased in a gilded mask that the clock gives extra cachet. This famous clockmakers family is in "Dictionanaire des Horlogers Francais" pp. 246 and is dated around 1880.
