This is a fine and rare marquetry small long case of month duration by
"Brouncker Watts, London".
This clockmaker is in: "Watchmaker & Clockmaker of the world by GH Baillie on page 336.
The 12 inch square brass chapter ring and spandrel dial has a well matted and engraved centre with a small date aperture above 6 o'clock and a subsidiary seconds dial below 12 o'clock .The winding holes are ringed and the makers name is engraved on the chapter ring. Beautiful spandrels in the corners with two cherubs holding a crown.
It is not entirely certain whether the case and movement originally belong together, but both are from the same period and fit perfectly together.
The fine quality weight driven of one month duration has five finned and knopped pillars and strikes the hours on a bell which is controlled by an outside count wheel .
The oak cabinet is glued with walnut and burr walnut and has a soft, glossy polish. The inlay with many floral motifs is beautifully executed. The door is dated and executed with the monogram PE and the date 1689. The letters PE stand for the name of the person who executed the inlay.

The dimensions are 209 cm high, 42 cm wide, 24 cm deep.
