J. Palliard, a Paris
French (one-hand) Lantern clock, with striking mechanism and original alarm.
Clockwork with verge escapement (short pendulum), standing on a wooden chair that hangs on the wall. Nice crafted steel hand, the clock strikes the number of hours on the large bell every hour and the half hours once by means of a forced-strike hammer.
The alarm clock on the back is operated with two smaller weights and is set with the alarm dial on the front.
The dial / mirror is signed with: J. Palliard, a Paris
This J (acques) is in "Dictionnaire des Horlogers Francis van Tardy" on page 501, he died in 1784
Dating approx. 1740 -60 Louis XV
