Grandfather clock


Amsterdammer

Amsterdam Grandfather or longcase clock, signed on the silver plated dial ring: "Barent Walis, Amsterdam".This clockmaker is in: "Dutch clock and watchmakers from 1300" by Enrico Morpurgo on p. 138.
Beautifully engraved bronze dial, with in the corners the well-known four seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.
Beautifull moon phase, visible in the round hole above the middle. Separate date and day below the middle. In the Middle the silver plated alarm disc.

The oak Clockcase is veneered with Burl Walnut polished soft shiny.

The Clockwork has a so called "Dutch strike" which means: striking on the quarters: once changing: large and a small bell. Whole hours the number of hours on the big bell and the half hour on the small bell.

Dating ca. 1730-40, period Louis XV.

Dimensions: high 216 cm, width 42 cm, 23 cm deep.
