A very nice Carriage clock with day and date indication in a Corniche case, with original silver-plated escapement. This clock has no striking mechanism.

This stands for Charles Oudin, this famous clockmaker and his family of clockmakers is in "Dictionanaire des Horlogers Francais" page 498.
Case has been polished and varnished, the escapement - still dirty - will be re-silvered.
The clock is of exceptionally fine quality.

Charles Oudin is one of the oldest French watchmakers. It was founded in Paris in the late 18th century by Jean-Charles (known as Charles) Oudin, who came from a family of watchmakers from northeastern France. Four generations of Oudin practiced the profession in Paris from the mid-18th century. Several of them worked for master watchmaker Abraham-Louis Breguet.
Charles Oudin, the most famous member of this watchmaking dynasty, established himself at the end of the 18th century and devoted himself to luxury and precision watches. The first watches signed "Charles Oudin, pupil of Breguet" date from 1797. In 1805 he created a "tact repeater watch" for Empress Joséphine 2 . His participation in the major exhibitions of the time was noted: at the 1806 Exposition des produits de l'industrie française, he received an honorable mention for a self-winding
