Carriage clock Giant


J.C. Vickery to their Majesties

A rare and very large carriage clock: called a Giant, case in Corniche style. Nice big and original silver plated escapement. Week runner with striking every half hour on large gong.
Clock face - in perfect condition - signed with "JC Vickery to their Majesties 179.181.183." Regent St.w "This Giant clock obviously meets the standard size, at least 9 inches high, see also" Carriage clocks, their history
and development ", by Charles Allix, p. 186. On the top is engraved: "To Sergt, Major G. Cliffe, From the officers of C. Squadron, 1915, ... etc .....".
Dating about 1915.
Dimensions are: HxWxD: 25 cm or (with the handle up) x 13.5 cm x 11.5 cm. (9.8 inches x 5.3 inches x 4.5 inches)
